Year 9 History students have been learning about the impact of inventions during the Industrial Revolution, such as steam engines, the flying shuttle, the seed drill and the telegraph. Students have been developing their communication skills by presenting their findings through oral presentations and written descriptions.
Here, Year 9 Historians Gwen Hutton (at left) and Zoe Gabriel use a telegraph handset to communicate via Morse code. The handset belonged to Mr Coverdale’s grandfather who was the telegraphist at South Grafton Post Office during the 1940s and 50s.
